A bit unloved and neglected since the world went mobile and 4G, our Old Red Telephone Box has an axe hanging over it's head. Many villages are able to buy their red box for £1 from the phone company who are pleased to be rid of the responsibility of maintenance.
Unfortunately our red box is on a plot of land that includes an old telephone exchange, which means the land has been sold, and that any day now the box could be removed and lost forever, so that the plot of land can be redeveloped. Our local Parish Council are working on a project to save it and acquire it for the village where it would be relocated. Unfortunately for us this means costs in the thousands, a lot more than £1. It is still to be decided.
