I just spotted a flock of Egrets in a neighbouring field so I went for a closer look as I have never seen so many together before. At first I thought they were the usual Little Egrets we see quite often in the creek, fishing, but I then noticed they had yellow beaks not the usual black beak.
It turns out that they are Cattle Egrets, which of course makes sense given where they were, but I had never heard of Cattle Egrets before.
Then I noticed a much larger bird walking around with them, at least twice the size, and this turned out to be a Great White Egret. There are no prizes for inventing original names when it comes to Egrets. So that is two new sightings for me today.
