Brixham Pirate Festival 1

This will be a series of posts about my recent visit to The Brixham Pirate Festival. This first set was taken early in the day and features the early arrivals. Later posts will feature Pirate Portraits, the Pirate Parade, Pirate Entertainments and the battle of the Redcoats and The Pirates.

The day starts with the flags going up and the stallholders and musicians arriving. A steady stream of pirates head for the muster point ahead of the Pirate Parade. If you are a fan of Little Britain the TV show I can assure you there is nothing available that is a little less "Piratey", this is full on Pirate Extreme.

#7 is PERFECT! Not sure where you were standing to have such a view but seeing the row of houses and roofs in such a manner is great!!

That pirate's ship looks just like one they have in Tampa. They have a festival similar to yours called Gasparilla Pirate Festival.

"Crown and Anchor" sign and the couple walking....the combination of the two made me crack up but then I thought "Sprat and Mackrel" might be even more fitting for the couple. (sorry going down t…

That view of the houses is just the view from the harbour but I had a long lens on this time so it made a better composition. It was fun photographing people who were eager to be photographed, not like normal street photography.

Nice post Gethin, I spent a week in Brixham a good few years ago it really is a marvellous place. Never been to the Pirate Festival.

I remember I had really good fish and chips in the harbour there.

Great images, looking forward to the next posts.

It's an interesting mix of working port and tourist town.
