This is just a short post in the light of recent events. I have recently placed three posts on Brixham here and had not planned to do another for some time.
Sadly there has been a tragedy which I only heard about today. Having just done a photo walk of the town and photographed the harbour, life boat and fishing boats and given some history about the town, I was shocked to learn today that one of the boats in the Brixham fishing fleet has just recently sunk off the Sussex coast with loss of life.
Three men were aboard the boat when it sank after triggering it's distress beacon. One man, the skipper of the vessel Dave Bickerstaff, was found clinging to a lifebuoy, recovered from the water by the Newhaven lifeboat and transferred to hospital. He is now recovering at home.
Sadly the two other crew were Adam Harper whose body has been recovered and Robert Morley who is still missing, presumed dead.
