Toady was Red Nose Day, a national charity event based around comedy, hence red nose, as in those worn by clowns.
A resident of our community was challenged to dress as a penguin and run all around the village. Whereupon much chaos ensued, as a truck driver got lost, the traffic stopped and the police arrived to smooth things out.
The event kicked off at the phone box which seems to be becoming the new hub of the village.
It was a joyous, mad, and happy half hour of fun and I don't think the village has experienced anything like it for over a year. There is definitely a feeling in the air that things may be returning to some semblance of normality. Where normality is defined as being happy when unexpected frivolity breaks out and banishes the gloom and the fear.
