17 Days Apart

Originally published on Photoblog by Gethin Thomas FEBRUARY. 27, 2021

[210-365] 27th. February 2021- I have contrasted todays pics with those taken 17 days ago. Then it was winter and the tail end of an easterly storm, bitterly cold, very windy and my fingers were numb and painful from the cold. I was the only fool on the beach.

Today is another world, more like summer, people sunbathing, a lot of bare flesh, car park full, takeaway doing a roaring trade, swimmers in the sea, fishermen with their tents set up, kids paddling, people walking. No scarves, no heavy coats, no bobble hats.

The construction of the sea defences continues apace. That whole middle section has been added since I was last here. Now I understand how they are doing it. In the second photo the stone slope is quite narrow and small. What I didn't realise until seeing the operation today is that first they dig a huge deep trench and the stone slope is built quite far down into it so that when finished most of it is back filled and covered up.

And on the eighth day the Lord said let there be twice cooked chips. (At least he should have).
